The Lairage Operative role involves safe and efficient handling of livestock within the lairage area prior to processing, maintaining high standards of animal welfare, hygiene, and health and safety. Day Shift and Back‑Shift (1300‑2200) roles available.
Responsibilities
- Receiving and unloading livestock on arrival at the site in accordance with welfare regulations
- Ensuring livestock numbers are correct
- Ensuring all appropriate paperwork is completed
- Monitoring livestock for animal welfare issues and taking action if required
- Segregating animals as required
- Moving animals between pens using safe handling techniques
- Maintaining accurate identification and traceability
- Adhering to departmental SOPs and maintaining high standards
- Contributing to the team’s goals and department targets
- Ensuring customer and company specifications are met
- Promoting and maintaining excellent health, safety and hygiene standards
