We currently have opportunities for an Automation Engineer working for the Kettering Engineering team. As an Automation Engineer, you will be working from our manufacturing plant in Kettering. The position is a day shift role, Monday to Friday, supporting the Systems and Automation Engineer, including IT and OT, and working at the front line, supporting the production team to keep the machines in running order while producing high-quality products and being involved in planned maintenance when required.
Your responsibilities within the Maintenance department include:
- All automation equipment on site, including PLCs, inverters, WinCC, servers, etc.
- General maintenance of the management systems.
- Technical reporting and providing effective support for factory PLC, SCADA, and IT Network systems.
- Organising calibrations and legally required technical checks.
- Establishing and overseeing a lock-off system.
This role will involve working in all areas of the factory, and you will be expected to have a sense of urgency when problems are identified, addressing them immediately with a mindset of ‘right first time’.
To be successful in this role, you need to have:
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar environment, preferably within high care food manufacturing at FMGC.
- Time served and qualified maintenance engineer.
- Multi-skilled preferred or prepared to work towards.
- If electrical bias, 18th edition qualified.
- City and Guilds, or NVQ3 qualified in an engineering or maintenance discipline.
- PC basic skills (MS Excel, MS Word, SAP).
- Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Knowledge of safe working practices and hygiene standards in a food environment.
- Knowledge of automated process equipment and control systems.
- Knowledge of sterilisation and filling processes is desirable.
- Knowledge of Tetra Pak, Galdi, or similar packaging machines is desirable.
This role offers you the opportunity to work in a proactive manner to eliminate problem areas, performing both corrective and preventative maintenance as required to a high standard whilst respecting quality and safety guidelines. You will be required to work independently and also as part of a team.
