As our Executive Creative Director, you will define the agency’s creative culture. This is a culture that recognises the commercial value of creative innovation and excellence in award-winning craft and execution. Responsibilities and reach in this role are extensive and you will play a pivotal role as the creative conduit between teams, clients and partners always seeking better ways to enhance the quality and impact of our work. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will represent the Creative Craft and will be looked to you for guidance and leadership in developing outstanding communications and campaigns across a portfolio of clients and brands. SSW has significant responsibilities across some of GSK’s most important global brands. In your role, you will act to support and build those relationships fully, working with colleagues in London and across markets. Responsibility and stewardship of the SSW brand will also form part of your remit, and you will join our established Brand Team to ensure that we show up strongly to our internal external audiences.
Day to day, you will directly manage and mentor a Senior Creative Team, including a Creative Director and Associate Creative Directors. Understanding that new business is the lifeblood of any agency; you will actively and expertly drive efforts to attract new assignments, stepping into lead pitches directly. It is also expected that you will have a high degree of commercial acumen, appreciating the operating requirements of the business and the need to balance creative reputation with growth and revenues.

- Attract, recruit and retain the best industry talent
- In partnership with the SLT, optimise and restructure teams, systems and operations to deliver the most creative and efficient work for our clients
- Identify and close skills gaps where they exist
- Stay connected with the wider creative community and maintain contacts to remain current and relevant
- Build effective training plans using internal and external partners to motivate and upskill teams
- Actively engage with emerging AI tools and understand their application and value to our work and clients
- Work directly with Publicis Groupe’s internal production teams – Prodigious, PXP etc.
- Work closely with the Strategy and Account Teams, ensuring that all creative work is strongly rooted in our clients’ commercial aspirations i.e., work that works
- Develop flexible creative platforms that help our clients connect with their audiences through a range of experiences and touchpoints
- Coach and develop people across the business at every opportunity
- Evaluate and steer conceptual thinking and creative execution across the team
- Ensure that creative presentations to the client and internally meet the highest professional standards
- Oversee the selection of work for external promotion and award entries
- Build relationships with external award bodies to ensure visibility of the agency and its people
- Develop case-studies to enhance agency credentials
- Act always as an advocate for the value of creativity as it relates to the healthcare industry today
- Lead and participate in new business development
- Encourage cross-discipline working and collaboration
- Showcase and share creative work across the team, disciplines and broader agency
- Be the external creative voice for the agency
Whilst you do not need to have direct experience of working in health, you will be passionate about taking the opportunity to join a sector where brand purpose is baked in. You are an experienced industry professional with proven creative leadership and well-developed general agency management skills. As the creative figurehead for the agency, you will also be a highly regarded industry figure, with an award-winning creative portfolio of your own. This, combined with your enviable presentation skills, infectious vision and pragmatic approach make you a natural champion of great work. As a strong conceptual and strategic thinker, you believe in the power of creativity to create business advantage. You have demonstrable expertise in communication campaign development, along with a well-developed appreciation of user-design and execution across multiple channels and touchpoints. You are also deeply committed to craft, believing that the work must be as beautiful as it is useful. Your personal portfolio demonstrates your experience in creating awarded and effective communication across multiple and integrated digital channels, ranging from film, print, direct, outdoor, design/branding, social, websites, apps and experiential.
