Core Skills, Role and Responsibilities

The Commercial Business Partner supports margin protection, commercial decision-making, and risk awareness across aligned business areas. The role works closely with Sales and Corporate Services to provide commercial insights, support operational performance, and contribute to sustainable growth. This position operates as a key partner to Sales teams, offering guidance and analysis while ensuring commercial processes are followed. The CBP supports issue resolution, reporting, and planning activities, while building strong working relationships across the business.

Qualifications Knowledge & Skills

  • BSc/BA degree or similar further education (ideally in Business, Finance, or related field)
  • 3+ years post-graduate experience in Operations, Commercial, Finance, or Business Partnering roles
  • Good foundational financial acumen (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet)
  • Understanding of financial modelling, pricing structures, and contract models
  • Experience with financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Strong customer service orientation with experience supporting stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Exposure to contract negotiations and commercial agreements (desirable)
  • Knowledge of legal frameworks related to recruitment or services (desirable)
  • Financial or legal qualifications are beneficial but not required

Responsibilities Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Sales organisation to provide commercial insight, guidance, and support
  • Act as a point of contact for resolving commercial and operational issues, escalating where needed
  • Support Sales teams in building financial and commercial awareness
  • Identify and raise potential commercial and regulatory risks
  • Collaborate with Corporate Services (Finance, Legal, Tax, HR, IT, Facilities) to support business operations
  • Contribute to commercial input for business decisions
  • Support the annual budgeting and planning process
  • Assist with target setting, performance tracking, and variance analysis
  • Produce forecasts and highlight risks and opportunities
  • Provide insights into market trends, client performance, and commercial risks
  • Support contract preparation and negotiations in collaboration with Sales, Legal, and Sales Support teams
  • Participate in client interactions, including negotiations, issue resolution, and relationship management
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support implementation of more efficient ways of working
  • Maintain awareness of relevant legal and regulatory requirements impacting the business
