Summary
Responsible for handling materials as required using various equipment and vehicles. Records and verifies all transactions to ensure inventory accuracy. Executes day-to-day warehouse tasks as instructed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participates in daily cycle counts and provides accurate inventory counts.
- Updates inventory in database as required by Distribution Supervisor.
- Stores incoming materials from receiving and production in proper bin locations.
- Possess good organizational skills and is very detail-oriented in order to ensure paperwork control.
- Receives incoming materials and compares to appropriate receiving documents and purchase orders.
- Coordinates and conducts quality inspections of incoming materials per established procedures.
- Notifies Buyer and management of non-conformities or discrepancies in order to obtain disposition.
- Works with Warehouse Supervisor to ensure timely and accurate movement of items from receiving into the warehouse.
- Selects outgoing items from stock as requested by manufacturing and delivers to appropriate department.
- Selects and prepares items from stock for shipments to customers.
- Maintains a clean, organized, safe stock and receiving area by adhering to proper storage and housekeeping guidelines.
- Inspects equipment used daily to ensure proper and safe functioning.
- Loads and unloads trailers as required for receiving, shipping, or transfers using pallet jack or forklift.
- Loads trucks according to priority, delivery route and space effectiveness to maximize container and expedite delivery to meet our customer requirements.
- Prepares all freight for shipment by palletizing, strapping, adding address labels and securing product against damage.
- Secures loads properly.
- Conducts visual inspection of product and load tag when unloading or loading product.
- Verifies product being shipped against load tag and packing list.
- Complies with company policies and procedures including but not limited to the company safety manual, local, state and federal traffic laws and DOT regulations.
- Performs daily DOT pre-trip inspection according to checklist and keeps an accurate copy in the vehicle at all times.
- Maintains a daily legible DOT log book and submits daily.
- Required to frequently climb in and out of tractor trailer cab.
- Provides basic maintenance for vehicles such as cleanliness and minor repairs.
- Ensures proper maintenance of vehicle and reports all accidents, damages and malfunctions to management.
- Dispatches and routes deliveries as required.
- Calls supervisor on two-way radio when delayed more than 15 minutes and after leaving an area.
- Reports direction updates for new customers and vendors.
- Delivers Customer Orders in a safe, timely and professional manner.
- Provides good customer service and maintains a professional image.
- Assists other Drivers when scrap or rejected product is brought back from a customer.
- Contacts third party carriers for outbound freight to arrange for pickups and deliveries as well as supplies regarding shipment information.
- Responsible for dock control to ensure that finished goods from all departments are put in staging areas in the warehouse or staging areas for shipment.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have 3-5 years driving experience driving box trucks.
Language Ability
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of spreadsheet software; inventory software and ERP system.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, including dust and sawdust. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work in high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
