We are a dynamic multi-stakeholder initiative, dedicated to connecting UK companies to the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest responsible business initiative. The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact provide a robust foundation and comprehensive framework for corporate sustainability and business action on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our mission is to champion sustainability leadership to create a world we want to live and do business in, by inspiring ambition, enabling impactful action, and collaborating to reshape the business environment for the better. The UN Global Compact Network UK has over 900 participating companies, with a team of 26 people. About the role: We are seeking a Senior Manager for Outreach & Marketing, to join our dynamic team. The role is responsible for the UN Global Compact Network UK’s recruitment strategy. They will own the end-to-end marketing and outreach function — from lead generation and pipeline management to conversion — and provides data-driven forecasting and performance reporting to senior leadership. The Senior Manager also line manages two Outreach Managers and a Participant Engagement Coordinator, providing strategic direction, coaching, and oversight to ensure team targets are met.

Who we are looking for:

  • Business development experience: Significant experience in consultative sales, business development, or growth roles within professional services, sustainability advisory, or a corporate commercial function, with a track record of managing complex sales cycles and long-term account relationships.
  • Sustainability expertise: Demonstrable knowledge of corporate sustainability, with the credibility to engage C-suite and senior business leaders and translate sustainability topics into compelling business propositions.
  • Marketing strategy and execution: Proven ability to develop and execute lead generating marketing strategies through digital channels, content marketing, event-based outreach and provide performance analysis.
  • Data, analytics, and reporting: Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel, AI and Salesforce CRM, with high standards for pipeline hygiene, data accuracy, and the ability to produce clear growth reports and forecasts for senior leadership.
  • Communication and external presence: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to present to senior audiences, lead external sessions, and represent the organisation credibly at events and in partner relationships.
  • People management: Proven experience in line managing and developing individuals in a target-driven environment, with an inclusive and motivating leadership style.
  • Strategic and commercially minded: Ability to identify growth opportunities and make evidence-based decisions. Strong influencing and negotiation skills, able to build buy-in internally and externally.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities: Across strategy, outreach, marketing, and people management in a fast-paced environment.

In your first 6 months: To help you settle quickly, we will provide a thorough and comprehensive onboarding. Through meetings with key colleagues and online training, we will help you to become familiar with our way of working and our value proposition.

Key Responsibilities - after onboarding, we will expect you to:

  • Outreach, Marketing, and Growth: Lead and champion the growth mission of the UN Global Compact Network UK, acting as a senior ambassador for the organisation’s value proposition.
  • Drive strategic outreach to engage C-suite and sustainability leaders at prospective member companies, articulating the case for participation compellingly and with industry understanding.
  • Own and lead the development and execution of the annual recruitment and marketing plan, setting targets and translating strategy into action.
  • Lead and oversee the creation of high-impact marketing content and campaigns — including email outreach, social media, and outreach communications — to generate a consistent pipeline of qualified leads.
  • Lead on high-level outreach activity, including proactive prospecting, conducting outreach calls, inbound lead conversion, and relationship development with key targets.
  • Ensure the team operates within an agreed and consistent outreach methodology, maintaining quality and compliance at every touchpoint.
  • Drive the conversion of inbound leads and warm prospects into Network participants.
  • Design and implement structured follow-up processes and lead nurturing sequences, working with the team to maximise conversion rates and minimise drop‑off across the pipeline.
  • Own and maintain a high-quality, structured pipeline of prospective participants in Salesforce, ensuring data integrity, accurate stage progression, and timely follow‑ups.
  • Use Salesforce to produce regular pipeline reports, track KPIs, and provide growth updates and forecasting to senior leadership.
  • Produce and present regular growth performance reports using Excel and Salesforce, including pipeline analysis, conversion metrics, lead source tracking, and initial revenue forecasting.
  • Translate data into clear insights and actionable recommendations for the Director of Participant Engagement and wider leadership.
  • Work closely with programme colleagues to align growth and outreach activity with the Network’s broader impact agenda.
  • Identify and leverage events, publications, and Network milestones as marketing and lead generation opportunities.
  • Cultivate and manage strategic partnerships with business associations, chambers of commerce, and sector bodies to extend the Network’s reach.
  • Represent the organisation at senior-level events and conferences, generating high‑quality leads and raising the Network’s profile with key audiences.
  • Line manage two Outreach Managers and a coordinator, providing clear direction, regular one-to‑ones, performance management, and professional development support to build a high-performing growth team.
  • Set clear individual and team objectives aligned to the overall growth strategy, tracking progress against targets and holding regular pipeline reviews with direct reports to ensure accountability and quality.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, supporting continuous improvement of outreach and marketing practices, and contributing constructively to the wider Participant Engagement team.

This is a full‑time position (37.5 hours per week). The salary offered is £38,000-£43,000 per annum depending on experience.
