Muzz is a leading Muslim matrimony platform with over 12 million members worldwide, backed by Y Combinator. We're seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our team in London on a hybrid basis (3 days per week at our Aldgate office).
About the Role:
As Senior Data Scientist, you will drive data-driven decision-making across the organization. You'll analyse user behaviour patterns to generate actionable insights for product and marketing teams, develop production-ready machine learning systems that serve millions of users, and own the personalization and recommendation features that are core to our matching experience. You will also mentor junior team members, design and execute comprehensive A/B testing and experimentation programmes, and take end-to-end ownership of ML projects from conception through deployment and monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse user behaviour and generate insights for product and marketing teams
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and growth departments
- Develop and maintain production ML systems serving millions of users
- Own personalization and recommendation features for user matching
- Mentor junior data scientists and analysts
- Design and execute A/B tests and experimentation programmes
- Drive end-to-end ML project ownership from conception to monitoring
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Data Scientist or ML Engineer
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- Deep expertise in personalization and recommendation systems (embeddings, ranking models, collaborative filtering)
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proven commercial acumen and business focus
- Demonstrated experience designing and executing A/B tests
- Track record of managing production ML pipelines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with real-time recommender systems
- Background working on consumer mobile-first products
- Proficiency with Google Cloud Platform tools including BigQuery and VertexAI
