Cambridge Muslim College is a registered Islamic charity and independent higher education institution located in Cambridge, UK. The College seeks a Development Manager to lead its fundraising and donor engagement strategy as it enters a phase of long-term sustainability and major donor growth.

Role Overview

This is a permanent, full-time position (or 0.8 FTE part-time available) on a hybrid basis with approximately two days per week in the Cambridge office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the College's comprehensive fundraising and donor engagement strategy across multiple income streams
  • Build and manage relationships with major donors and high-net-worth individuals, including prospect identification and cultivation
  • Lead structured fundraising campaigns with compelling cases for support
  • Expand major donor engagement beyond the Ramadan period to achieve consistent year-round giving
  • Grow the Friends and Patrons regular-giving programme
  • Develop corporate partnerships and explore international giving opportunities
  • Enhance fundraising systems, processes, and donor stewardship practices
  • Oversee communications and digital engagement aligned with fundraising priorities
  • Mentor and manage a small development team (Development Coordinator and Communications Coordinator)
  • Represent the College at donor events, with willingness to travel internationally as needed

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven track record in multi-stream fundraising including major donor fundraising
  • Demonstrated success securing significant five-figure or six-figure gifts from high-net-worth donors
  • Experience in either corporate giving or regular giving programmes
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills
  • Expertise in crafting cases for support and delivering structured donor stewardship
  • Demonstrable experience engaging with Muslim communities
  • Understanding of Islamic charitable giving practices, including Zakat and Sadaqah
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Team leadership experience

Desirable Experience

  • Corporate or alumni fundraising background
  • Experience running appeals or donor campaigns

Benefits

  • Salary: Β£50,000–£55,000 per annum
  • 5% employer pension contribution
  • 28 days annual leave plus UK bank holidays and two additional Eid days
