Overview
In this role, you will support and improve product and process quality across manufacturing, partnering with Production, Technical, Quality, Suppliers and Customers to ensure compliance with specifications and internal standards. You will apply data-driven analysis and continuous improvement methods to resolve quality issues and drive performance. You will lead cross-functional initiatives to strengthen process capability and reduce defects, contributing to Umicore’s mission of delivering high-performance materials and sustainable solutions. Responsibilities
- Support product and process quality to meet customer specs and internal standards
- Assist incoming, in-process and final inspection activities; perform raw material inspections and monitor supplier performance
- Collaborate with production to improve process capability, consistency and quality
- Organize inspection areas and implement new process flows from goods-in to goods-out
- Support post-processing activities including batch scanning and baking
- Collect and analyze quality data to identify trends and improvements
- Document inspection results and maintain quality records
- Lead or participate in root cause investigations and corrective action (8D)
- Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives; apply lean methods to reduce defects, waste and variation
- Work with suppliers to ensure materials meet UCS requirements; support supplier quality issue resolution
- Maintain incoming substrate inspection process and report non-conforming material
- Support investigation of customer quality concerns
Key requirements
- 5+ years in a regulated manufacturing, engineering or quality environment
- Strong IT skills with data analysis and statistical methods (e.g., Minitab, SigmaXL)
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to excellence
- Understanding of Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence in precision manufacturing
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Understanding of Six Sigma methodologies
- Ability to work across multi-national sites and independently as well as in a team
