They are now looking to expand the team by recruiting an Epitaxial Growth Engineer. This is a key technical role, providing direct impact on product performance, yield, and new technology introduction.
You will join a supportive and high-performing environment that encourages innovation, autonomy, and continuous improvement, working with cutting-edge technologies in materials science, physics, and electronic engineering.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and optimise epitaxial growth processes for compound semiconductor wafers
- Collaborate with design, process, and yield teams to support new product development and process qualification
- Monitor, analyse and improve epi layer quality, uniformity, and repeatability using advanced metrology techniques
- Lead structured problem-solving efforts to improve process stability and yield
- Work with equipment engineering on maintenance, upgrades, and tool performance improvements
- Prepare technical reports and documentation for internal knowledge sharing and external audit purposes
- Ensure alignment with health, safety and environmental regulations across all growth operations
- Support root cause analysis using tools such as DoE, SPC, 8D, and FMEA
- Background in materials science, physics, electronic engineering, or a related discipline
- Either an experienced Epitaxial Engineer or someone who is from academia and looking to take on their first position in epitaxial
- Direct experience in epitaxial growth (preferably MOCVD) and compound semiconductors
- Knowledge of III-V materials such as GaAs, InP, or GaN is desirable
- Strong problem-solving skills with a structured analytical approach
- Experience in a high-tech manufacturing or R&D environment (Semiconductor, Photonics, RF/Microwave)
- Dynamic, hands-on and data-driven approach
- Based in or willing to relocate to County Durham
