CUSTOMER SOLUTIONS MANAGER || DATA CENTRES || LONDON
You know racks, containment, and cooling inside out. You’ve spent years telling data centre operators which products to buy and how to deploy them.
What if you were the one making the decision?
My client is a UK data centre operator with a growing colocation estate and real ambition to expand it.
Demand is outpacing their ability to turn customer requirements into deliverable solutions. They’re creating a new role to own that process from start to finish.
THE OPPORTUNITY
As Customer Solutions Manager, you’ll take a customer requirement, such as 20 racks at 15kW each, and turn it into an approved, costed and buildable solution.
You’ll own the whole journey:
- Assessing space and power across the estate and deciding where a deployment should sit
- Working with site operations teams to shape the solution
- Commissioning drawings and securing contractor quotations
- Partnering with Sales so every deal is commercially sound and technically deliverable
- Taking each solution through sign-off with the Managing Director, Chief Commercial Officer and Group Operations Director
- Owning capacity across the estate; what’s available, what’s committed and what’s next
This role sits in the Project Management Office, not in Sales or Operations. You’ll be the independent voice that balances both, which is a deliberate choice by the business. When a deal doesn’t stack up, you’ll have the standing to say so, and leadership who will listen.
WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT
- You’ll make the decisions, not just advise. You’ll move from recommending product to owning the outcome.
- You’ll have board-level visibility from day one. Your work goes directly in front of the MD, CCO and Group Operations Director.
- You’ll shape what comes next. The estate is moving towards liquid cooling, and you’ll influence how it is deployed.
- You’ll have a hiring manager who invests in his people. He coaches hands-on and is known for building close working relationships with his team.
- You’ll join a business in build mode. It moves quickly, offers genuine ownership and has room to grow with it.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Strong working knowledge of rack deployment, hot and cold aisle containment, and rack-level cooling, including liquid cooling
- Comfort discussing UPS, power and cooling. You won’t be the M&E designer, but you’ll speak the language confidently.
- Experience working with rack suppliers, contractors and quotations
- An engineering bias, whether through a degree, a trade or hands‑on experience. All routes are valued.
- The confidence to manage upwards, push back when needed, and keep Sales and Operations aligned
This role would suit someone in a technical support, solutions or applications engineering role at a rack, containment or cooling supplier. It would also suit someone in a solutions or implementation role within a data centre operator.
THE DETAIL
- Central London office, three days a week on site, with travel across the client’s estate
- A permanent, full‑time role
- Shortlisting is under way now, with interviews in November
