Under the supervision of the Director or designee, the Pharmacy Associate I will be a team member within Clinical Pharmacy Services (CPS). CPS manages client-specific programs to provide clinical expertise on medications. Responsibilities include:
- Handling calls with members, prescribers, and pharmacists.
- Assisting with sorting medication prior authorization requests under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist.
- Reviewing medication information, calling members, and recording outcomes in a pharmacy database.
- Handling inbound and outbound calls regarding client-specific work.
- Sorting medication prior authorization requests into appropriate drug classes within compliance timeframes.
- Providing information to prescribers and pharmacists about member prescriptions.
- Participating in orientation and training for new Pharmacy Associate I staff.
- Following UMass Chan and CPS policies and procedures.
- Assisting with data entry, medication monitoring, and insurance eligibility for reports and client work.
- Helping CPS pharmacist with client appeals information.
- Participating in staff meetings, quality initiatives, and in-service programs.
- Performing other duties as required for client initiatives.
Required Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Required Experience: Some pharmacy-related experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Active MA Pharmacy Technician License or National Certification (CPhT); bilingual in Spanish preferred; strong communication skills; attention to detail; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; teamwork skills; basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
