This individual will serve as a liaison between simulation operations, faculty, and the IT Technovation Team to foster a culture of innovation in teaching and learning. The specialist will drive the integration of educational technologies, ensuring faculty and student success through training, responsive support, and evidence-based solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in educational technology, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for enhancing learning experiences through technology.

This individual will serve as a liaison between simulation operations, faculty, and the IT Technovation Team to foster a culture of innovation in teaching and learning. The specialist will drive the integration of educational technologies, ensuring faculty and student success through training, responsive support, and evidence-based solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in educational technology, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for enhancing learning experiences through technology.
Examples of Duties:
Simulation & Immersive Learning:
- Oversee the performance and functionality of immersive simulation rooms, including AV systems, VR/AR platforms, and interactive projection environments.
- Maintain and support high-fidelity manikins, scenario control software, and related simulation technologies in collaboration with simulation and IT staff.
- Collaborate on scenario design, integrating digital media and simulation-enhancing technologies.
- Provide just-in-time and scheduled training for faculty and staff on simulation platforms and related educational tools.
- Offer consultations to support faculty in selecting and implementing technologies aligned with instructional goals.
- Partner with instructional designers and simulation educators to develop engaging, technology-enhanced learning experiences.
Innovation & Strategic Projects:
- Identify and incorporate emerging trends in educational technology and immersive learning environments.
- Contribute to the planning, piloting, and scaling of innovative instructional technology initiatives.
- Collaborate with the IT Technovation Team and cross-functional stakeholders to implement and evaluate the use of educational technologies in alignment with institutional goals.
- Analyze usage data and user feedback to evaluate the impact of educational tools and recommend enhancements or alternatives.
Infrastructure Support:
- Ensure seamless operation and integration of interactive technologies within the Center for Clinical Education & Research.
- Act as a technical expert, diagnosing and resolving issues related to educational and simulation technology systems.
- Document technical procedures, configurations, and support protocols to promote operational continuity and knowledge sharing.
- Coordinate with IT staff and external vendors to manage system maintenance, software updates, and equipment upgrades.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor\’s degree in educational technology, information technology, health sciences, or equivalent professional experience.
- 1-3 yearsβ demonstrated experience with immersive technologies (e.g., VR/AR, 360-degree video, interactive projection) and simulation-based learning environments.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and internal/external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in educational technology and immersive environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a higher education setting or healthcare simulation.
- Experience designing or supporting technology-enhanced learning experiences that promote learner access and engagement.
- Knowledge of learning management systems and simulation software applications.
- Familiarity with simulation pedagogy and Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice.
