Description
Eaton MSD Cheltenham are looking for a Mechanical Engineer.
The Engineering function manages a portfolio of specialist capabilities, generating highly differentiated solutions and products by applying electronic, mechanical, and software technologies in demanding and critical environments to meet customer needs.
An entry level Engineer, recently qualified, with limited or no industry experience who is expected to work with supervision and mentoring.
With training, they will progress their capability and knowledge with the aim to increase their level of competence.
Key Responsibilities
- Able to prepare technical documents and design and develop product data to their functional domain level with the appropriate level of oversight.
Assisting delivery of the design solutions to meet project schedule & budget requirements.
- Understand requirements and apply them appropriately under supervision of more senior engineers.
- Works with more experienced engineers to provide a level of engineering support to manufacturing and supply chain, at the same time developing DFM / DFT understandings.
- Capable of providing engineering estimates for their individual contributions to a project.
- Good communication skills. Capable of presenting ideas and proposals to peers and line managers, under supervision of more senior engineers.
- Ability to liaise support functions (Commercial, Finance, Supply chain etc)
- Capable of authoring documents within PLM tool and releasing via ECR process.
- Understands the need for configuration and change management under supervision.
- Understands the need for security, commercial export licences and ITAR requirements with guidance.
- Designs and details mechanical assemblies under supervision and has an awareness of designing for manufacture and production processes.
- Capable of reading and laying out drawings to British and International Standards as necessary under guidance from for senior engineers and the companies own Draughting Standard Manual.
- Basic awareness of electrical wiring, electronic assembly handling, and software and systems domain functions.
- Perform basic FEA analysis under supervision.
- Awareness of designing for manufacture and production processes.
- Has a basic understanding of project and engineering lifecycles using APQP/PPAP methodologies in line with AS9145.
- Has a basic understanding of the need for environmental requirements.
- Good application of Microsoft packages and relevant software for the role
Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications to an appropriate level, typically a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
