Job Description: Ultra Precision Control Systems (PCS) are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to perform a supplier quality assurance role to minimise risk to supply chain, business and customer and maximise the quality of deliveries from the suppliers. In this role you will assure that supply chain quality standards are implemented, monitored and maintained. Identify, verify, maintain continuous improvement within the supply chain and business where required. Driving robust corrective actions to avoid repeated failures and to minimise the risk of supply chain quality.

As the Supplier Quality Engineer, you will work closely with all levels of internal and external stakeholders, including approval authorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactive Management of Quality Issues identified to drive robust root cause and corrective actions.
  • Manage Supplier RCCA responses and close outs.
  • Support of Supplier Quality Selection, Onboarding or Transfer of Work process, control of risk and collaborating with other departments to bring in Right-First-Time items from the supply chain.
  • Supplier product and manufacturing process audits.
  • Offer support and/or AS9102 FAI training into our supply chain.
  • Technical Engineering support, including Concessions, process reviews, process and quality improvements.
  • Supplier moves and associated creation/implementation of quality plans.
  • New project/prototype supplier support, where required.
  • On site (supplier) Source Inspection or Release at Source, where required.
  • Regular review and reporting of Value Stream associated Supplier Quality data and facilitating action plans to drive continuous improvements.
  • Day-to-day on hand support to our suppliers for Quality related queries.
  • Taking customer requirements and ensuring appropriate flow and implementation to our supply chain, where applicable.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Has a proven range of Quality/Business Improvement experience.
  • Proven experience working within a quality management system.
  • Experience with auditing.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawing and design requirements.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing environment and working with a supply chain.
  • Good communication skills demonstrated both verbally and in writing in the form of presentations and recommendations for improvement.
  • Works effectively with others.
  • Demonstrated experience in building good working relationships and gaining trust and respect with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Plans work and delivers on time.
  • Demonstrates a “Can do” positive attitude.
  • Use own initiative within the scope of the role.
  • Makes timely decisions within the scope of the role.
  • Good application of Microsoft packages and relevant software for the role (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic hand-held metrology equipment.
  • Understanding of other inspection and measurement techniques, and any associated limitation.
  • Willingness to travel on business, with overnight stays as required.
  • Valid passport and driving license.

Desirable:

  • Has worked in an Aerospace Organisation.
  • Experience in Aerospace quality standards (e.g. AS9100, EASA Part 21, Part 145 etc).
  • Other aerospace topics e.g. FOD, counterfeit avoidance etc.
  • Process Measurement techniques (e.g. SPC, KPIs, etc.).
  • Certified Quality Auditor training.
  • Education linked to Engineering Qualifications.
  • Knowledge of FAIR process, APQP/PPAP or ISAR.
  • Understanding of special processes such as Anodising, Surface Treatment such as Painting and Electro-plating, PCBA manufacturing.
