Ultra Precision Control Systems (Ultra PCS) seeks an enthusiastic Graduate Software Engineer for a 2‑year fixed‑term contract position. The role is part of our graduate development programme and offers exposure to a range of engineering disciplines across aerospace and defence projects.
The Engineering team manages specialist capabilities in electronic, mechanical and software technologies to deliver mission‑critical solutions for military and civil customers. As a Graduate Software Engineer you will support the design, development, testing and integration of software components for safety‑critical systems in aircraft and land vehicles.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the design, coding, review, and testing of new software for assigned projects.
- Transform software requirements into design specifications, ensure coding standards, and document code.
- Integrate software components with other system modules and resolve identified issues.
- Participate in software testing, including unit, integration and validation.
- Estimate work and understand how estimates impact project schedule.
- Contribute to reviews of documentation, design artefacts and code produced by others.
- Apply version‑control processes and maintain appropriate configuration management.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electronic, Software, Safety or Systems Engineering (or a related discipline).
- Demonstrated alignment with engineering practice and ability to learn quickly.
- Willingness to work in a team and tackle challenging problems.
- Eligible for UK National Security Vetting and able to work in the UK without restrictions.
- Ability to obtain any necessary security clearance.
The programme spans two years and includes sequential placements within the engineering, project management, operations, sales and marketing functions. The scheme is designed to build core technical expertise while giving exposure to the wider business.
