Job Description
The Ultra Engineering function manages a portfolio of specialist capabilities, generating highly differentiated solutions and products by applying electronic, mechanical, and software technologies in demanding and critical environments to meet customer needs. You will join a growing team in our modern Cheltenham or Cambridge offices supported by a team of highly qualified and experienced engineers from all disciplines.
Our Manufacturing Engineering and Design Teams work on the development of new products and services in Stores Ejection, Data Processing and Safety Critical Systems for Aerospace and Defence customers around the world. Our industrial placement opportunity is structured to build your practical knowledge as well as giving you exposure to the wider business complementing your academic studies.
Job Description Summary
As an Engineering Industrial Placement, you will gain some real hands-on experience within Manufacturing Engineering as a great way to introduce you to the broad breadth of product we produce. You will gain an understanding of the steps needed from design, manufacture, assembly, and shipping to the end customer. You will be introduced to some Engineering design problem solving and design activities using CAD or other software tools as appropriate.
Depending upon your discipline preference you will be exposed to manufacturing process, engineering design, engineering processes, product testing and inspection.
How Long Is The Industrial Placement
Our industrial placement can be up to 1-year during which time you will undertake short placements around the business, predominantly focused on engineering but also giving exposure to wider functions such as project management, operations, and supply chain.
What Qualifications Do You Need?
An industrial placement candidate will have good A-level grades, comparable to that expected for entry into university or college; subject grades in Mathematics and Physics (or equivalent), and maybe further Mathematics. In addition, other subjects may be Chemistry, Computer Science, Design Technology, Environmental Science, Psychology and Statistics.

Above all, you need to be able to integrate into a team working towards the common goal.
