Job Description

If yes, this opportunity at Ultra Maritime in High Wycombe is for you. As a Systems Engineering Manager, you will ensure the engineering function provides expertise throughout project bid and development cycles.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage and mentor a team of System Engineers, allocating work and providing technical direction.
  2. Ensure project and statutory requirements are met, improving the systems design function.
  3. Develop systems engineering tools, processes, and capabilities.
  4. Develop technical solutions for complex engineering problems, following Systems Engineering processes.
  5. Create Systems Engineering artefacts across the product lifecycle to ensure positive project outcomes.
  6. Design, develop, and deliver Systems Engineering artefacts for projects.
  7. Collaborate with system, hardware, and software teams to ensure consistency and design excellence.
  8. Lead design reviews and present to management and customers.
  9. Contribute to project aspects to balance requirements, schedule, and costs.
  10. Manage customer and supplier relationships to ensure compliance and project success.
  11. Generate technical proposals, estimates, and lead bid efforts.
  12. Estimate effort for systems activities and ensure adherence to schedules and budgets.
  13. Review and approve technical documents; chair reviews.
  14. Explain complex concepts clearly to less technical stakeholders.
  15. Manage information security in compliance with regulations.

Personal Attributes and Skills

  1. Strong understanding and deployment of Systems Engineering in complex projects.
  2. Experience in developing high-quality requirements and compliant designs.
  3. Proficiency in technical documentation and reviews.
  4. Experience with JAMA and embedded hardware/software/firmware development.

Degree in engineering, mathematics, or science, or equivalent experience. Defence industry experience is a plus. Candidates must obtain security clearance.
