Collaborates with internal functions including programmes, engineering, quality and Supply Chain to provide solutions and solve moderately complex problems to deliver projects on-time, on-quality, and on-budget. Identifies best practice and determines product design and build requirements. Ensures New Product Development (NPD) proactively addresses safety issues. Works with Engineering & Test Systems as required to develop and refine the test specifications, test procedure, control manufacturing processes and procedures to increase yield and eliminate quality failures. Tracks, identifies and reports opportunities to improve cost performance through a wide variety of options including influencing the design, process improvement, automation, and make vs. buy. May carry out duties off-site as required based on project need. Troubleshoots and resolves issues, estimating time requirements for operations. Recommends and implements improvements and/or modifications in the sequence of operations, equipment utilisation, and related matters in order to increase efficiency and cost savings.
Responsibilities:
- For assigned products, understand Value Creation Plan (VCP) and through the identification of time or cost saving measures achieve annual targets.
- Work closely with the IPT to support the product family; Identify design improvements and work with Engineering to implement.
- Support the definition of outsourcing & capex strategies (alongside Shopfloor Support Team, Project/CI Team and Supply Chain).
- Working with the Shopfloor Team (and other teams such as Test Systems as required) address product quality issues, HPU reduction and yield improvement activities and drive through RCCA to prevent reoccurrence.
- Operations PoC for 8D activity for assigned product family. Lead investigations, bringing in appropriate stakeholders as required.
- Support New Product Introduction activity as required; Bid Estimates, including generation of work packages as required.
- Design for Manufacture/Test (alongside Test Systems as required).
- Support to Engineering & Production where required to generate prototypes.
- Operations Management Plan generation (along with any other documentation required to support LCM process).
- Development of routings, processes and documentation leading to handover to production.
Typically, a Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in a related field and 3+ years of related experience. Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
Security Requirements:
This role requires you to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard Check (BPSS) as a minimum and some roles will require further national security vetting checks. In line with Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years. Some vacancies may require full Security Clearance which can require further evidence to be provided.
