Senior Support Engineer
Ultra PCS is looking for a Senior Support Engineer to support the delivery of engineering work as part of a team, working under the guidance of senior staff and within the wider context of the business.
The role involves leading small‑to‑medium technical work packages, providing support and guidance to junior engineers, and applying engineering skills to deliver solutions within time, cost, and quality constraints.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate technical work packages, ensuring they are delivered on‑time, on‑quality and on‑budget.
- Provide on‑the‑job training and guidance to new and junior team members.
- Contribute to technical reviews, design decisions, and professional processes within own discipline.
- Support the bid and proposal process by providing estimates for work packages and identifying dependencies with other disciplines.
- Write reports and present work at peer and design reviews.
- Stay informed of emerging technologies and tools within the discipline and influence decisions within closely related teams.
- Occasionally perform duties off‑site as required and carry out any other duties reasonably required by management.
Qualifications
- A very good understanding of mechanical, electromechanical and pneumatics design.
- Experience in production processes and the ability to read and layout drawings to British and International Standards.
- Capability to support subcontractors and manage mechanical component performance and selection.
- Knowledge of product development, the product lifecycle, and the ability to peer‑review technical drawings and documents.
- Awareness of other disciplines (Software, Electronic, Systems and ILS) to manage designs cooperatively.
- Understanding of manufacturing and testing processes, PLM, ERP systems, 2D/3D drawing packages, quality systems, and current legislation (REACH, Ro HS, WEEE, CE, UKCA).
- Experience with security, commercial export licences and ITAR requirements.
- Ability to interact with customers and suppliers to achieve common goals and oversee a product throughout its lifecycle.
- Must be able to work in the UK without restrictions and be prepared to undertake the appropriate level of UK National Security Vetting.
