Ultra PCS is looking for a Principal Systems Engineer to support the development of the next generation of military land and aerospace products. The role will involve deployment on a portfolio of products including electro‑mechanical systems, innovative power management and distribution technology, electronic command and control products, pneumatic systems and development of electronic architectures. To succeed in this role, you require a minimum of 5 years previous systems engineering experience, a good engineering or science degree (preferably in systems engineering) and the ability to operate within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities- Development of solutions for the military land and aerospace industries following a systems engineering approach.
- Holding discussions with customers resulting in elicitation of key stakeholder requirements.
- Development and derivation of customer requirements into realizable product requirements.
- Requirements‑based verification and validation of product requirements, using manual and scripted methods.
- Production of interface control documents, system design documents and other supporting documents.
- Controlling and managing engineering change throughout the development lifecycle.
- Preparation of technical proposals including estimations and presentations.
- Technical oversight and mentoring of other Systems Engineers within a project team.
- Comfortable working independently and within a team, with the ability to identify the needs of a project or task, taking initiative where appropriate to undertake the necessary work.
- An eye for detail focusing on requirements and specification structure, applicability and language.
- Understanding solution influences on the requirement set.
- Ability to effectively communicate either verbally or in writing within a multidisciplinary team, with internal company authorities or customers.
- Degree educated in an engineering or science discipline.
- Awareness of electronic, software or mechanical engineering development.
- Microsoft Office including Visio, Excel and Word.
- Configuration management tools.
- Coordination and technical leadership of a multidisciplinary project team to develop and deliver complex mechanical, electronic and embedded software solutions.
- Experience of safety‑critical solution development in accordance with DO‑178/DO‑254 or IEC61508.
- Familiarity/experience with MATLAB and Simulink.
- Familiarity with change control and problem reporting tools and processes.
- Flexible working within core working hours.
- 25 days holiday (185 hrs) with the option to buy/sell 5 days (37 hrs) plus bank holidays.
