Our client is an established and successful specialist mortgage lender. It serves the whole of the UK via broker channels. This is an exciting new opportunity within the business for an experienced relationship developer with a background and understanding of BTL mortgage underwriting processes and criteria.
The role is field based 4 days each week onsite with brokers across the North of England with 1 day working from home. Expenses will be paid for overnight stays required. You can be based anywhere in the north of England and cover broker partners closest to your home, but access to Manchester and Liverpool would be preferred.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing and developing relationships with a selection of key broker partners.
- Assessing mortgage applications in line with lending policy and regulatory standards (MCOB).
- Performing detailed affordability assessments for BTL mortgages.
- Applying manual underwriting judgement.
- Contributing towards underwriting policy reviews and process improvements.
Key Requirements:
- Strong understanding of mortgage lending, risk, and criteria.
- Training will be given on specific underwriting criteria if the core understanding is present.
- Experience of building and maintaining broker relationships. This is a primary focus for the role.
- You will be based in the North of England (ideally near a main city) and will be willing to travel extensively (4 days a week).
- It is essential that you have pre-existing relationships with mortgage brokers in the North of England.
- We will consider candidates from a mortgage BDM background or commercial banking with a mortgage mandate.
The successful candidate will undergo intensive training for the first few weeks, hotel accommodation cost will be covered. This will be followed by remote training until the individual is self-sufficient and comfortable representing the organisation.
