You will lead and develop a small underwriting team, ensuring high performance, quality customer outcomes and compliance with credit policy, MCOB/regulatory requirements and SLAs.
You will also personally manage complex and specialist mortgage cases.
Therolehasflexibilityfor office presence just once a week depending on your location and will require office presence more often for the first 2 weeks.
Keyresponsibilitiesofthe Mortgage Underwriting Manager include
- Leading and developing a small underwriting team, ensuring strong performance, quality and customer outcomes.
- Personally, handling complex, specialist and out-of-policy mortgage cases.
- Ensuring all lending decisions meet credit policy, MCOB/regulatory requirements and SLA targets.
- Providing technical guidance to underwriters, BDMs, brokers, mortgage advisers and wider business teams.
- Owning and maintaining underwriting processes, policies, quality controls and training.
- Supporting audits, external partners and regulatory requirements.
- Driving process improvement and operational efficiency.
Requiredskills&experiences
- Experience as a people manager ideally within a mortgage underwriting environment.
- Strong experience in manual residential mortgage underwriting.
- Comfortable with complex/specialist lending and exercising delegated discretion.
- Strong understanding of credit risk, affordability, income assessment and property risk.
- Strong knowledge of MCOB and mortgage regulations.
