Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)

Shift patterns: Monday - Friday 8am - 4.30pm

Location: HMP Highdown - Sutton (SM2 5PJ)

This role requires enhanced security clearance due to the working environment. Candidates must be able to meet all security and vetting requirements associated with working within a prison setting and must be able to provide a minimum of three years' current and continuous UK address history as part of the vetting process.

A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE:

  • Assisting the Regional Manager with the day-to-day running of the warehouse operation based onsite within the prison.
  • Overseeing daily warehouse activities while supervising and coordinating a team of prisoners.
  • Managing, supporting and developing Warehouse Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Order Distributors.
  • Maintaining accurate stock control and ensuring effective inventory management across the warehouse.
  • Monitoring operational performance and driving the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Managing the site budget and identifying opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiencies.
  • Providing operational support to other sites when required.
  • Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety policies and all prison rules and regulations.
  • Maintaining and updating staff training and induction programmes to ensure all team members are properly trained.

THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO:

  • Have experience leading, managing, or supervising a team, with the ability to motivate staff, delegate tasks effectively, and maintain a productive and positive working environment.
  • Have previous experience working within a warehouse or logistics environment is advantageous, with an understanding of stock control, order distribution, goods handling, and general warehouse operations.
  • Are comfortable using IT systems to support day-to-day operations, including maintaining records, monitoring stock levels, and producing accurate and timely reports to support operational performance and decision-making.
  • Have a strong work ethic with a “can-do” attitude, demonstrating reliability, initiative, and a commitment to completing tasks accurately and efficiently the first time.
