We are looking for an Underwriter – Offshore Energy, based in London.

The Offshore Energy Team is part of the wider Natural Resources Team in London. The Impact You Will Have

As an Underwriter reporting to the Regional Head of Offshore Energy, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the success of our Natural Resources division. By focusing on Upstream and Offshore Renewable Energy risks, you will contribute to achieving profitable new and renewal business, meeting Line of Business targets both regionally and globally. Your efforts will drive the development of a customer‑centric culture at Allianz Commercial ensuring that we deliver exceptional value and service to our clients. Working within a global matrix organization, your impact will extend beyond regional boundaries, fostering collaboration and innovation across teams and markets. You will be instrumental in advancing our strategic objectives and enhancing our position in the energy sector.

Responsibilities

  • You will underwrite large new and renewal accounts to achieve top and bottom‑line targets, both regionally and globally.
  • You will grow the Upstream and Offshore Renewables portfolio, increasing our presence in these markets.
  • You will negotiate participation, pricing, and terms and conditions with brokers, and proactively manage capacity.
  • You will underwrite in accordance with the Line of Business governance framework, including Underwriting Authorities and Guidelines.
  • You will ensure contract certainty is achieved for all accounts at the time of inception.
  • You will ensure accurate policy documentation is issued to brokers, maintaining responsibility where applicable.
  • You will contribute to the development and execution of the regional underwriting strategy for the Line of Business.
  • You will train, develop, and coach less experienced staff, including Underwriters.
  • You will positively represent Allianz Commercial externally to the market with key brokers and distribution channels.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • You have experience in underwriting successful business in the Upstream or Offshore Renewables market, with a good understanding of sub‑Line of Business products and portfolios.
  • You have established relationships with brokers at the peer group level and are well‑connected within the market.
  • You have a clear understanding of regional and local insurance markets and the competitive landscape, including global aspects.
  • You have a good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework.
  • You have the ability to assess risks and manage exposures relevant to the Line of Business.
  • You have the skills to draft and interpret contracts, ensuring consistent and effective wordings.
  • You have strong analytical skills to work with complex data from various sources, identifying and addressing issues proactively.
  • You have the ability to influence and motivate others to take action, even without executive authority.
  • The ability to utilise AI tools to support day‑to‑day tasks, improve efficiency, and contribute to data‑driven decision‑making is valuable.
