We are looking for a Captive Fronting Senior Underwriter to join our Alternative Risk Transfer team based in London.

Your Team

In Alternative Risk Transfer (ART), we create innovative tailored structured insurance, captive reinsurance and other non-traditional risk management solutions for a wide range of corporate and financial clients globally. We specialize in helping our customers mitigate their most complex risks with bespoke multi-year and multi-line agreements covering a broad range of risks, leveraging our expertise in alternative risk transfer and the global capabilities of the Allianz Group. We operate through Allianz Commercial offices in Zurich, London, New York, Belgium, Bermuda, and Singapore.

The Impact You Will Have

Reporting to Manager, Global Captive Fronting, the Senior Underwriter is responsible for the profitable underwriting and management of new and renewal business to meet global LoB targets for the portfolio of Global Captive Fronting accounts. You will act as the Subject Matter Expert for Captive Fronted business, and the key relationship point of contact for clients and brokers on designated accounts. You will also provide technical advice in respect of Captive Fronted program structures and design to the Allianz Commercial Product Lines and develop new business initiatives in conjunction with Market Management.

Key challenges will be to contribute to the growth of the portfolio in terms of accounts and fee income and market the ART Global Captive Fronting value proposition and to manage credit exposures. You will also actively collaborate with peers in ART LoB, Allianz Commercial LoBs and the Multinational Unit.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

  • Portfolio growth - Develop new business in conjunction with market management and LOBs.
  • Governance and Compliance - Adhere to corporate compliance standards and requirements for credit risk, legal documentation, credit enhancements, deal sign off procedures, sanctions compliance and licensing requirements.
  • Relationship Management - Promote and market the ART value proposition for fronting and structured underwriting to the market and internally within the AGCS and Allianz Group. Build strong relationships with key client and broker contacts, develop relationships with AGCS LOBs and the Multinational Unit.
  • Market Insight and Reporting - Develop and maintain a current and comprehensive client and industry segment insight, deliver relevant market and competitor insight to the business, develop, implement and broadcast operational measurements, KPIs and SLAs to measure, steer and improve business globally and locally.
  • Manage a portfolio of Global Captive Fronting Multinational accounts - overall responsibility for the management of the credit exposures, governance and compliance of the portfolio, responsible for the delivery of the agreed upon service standards, fee negotiation, account profitability and client relationship management.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Captive Fronting or multinational experience would be advantageous.
  • Good understanding of our lines of business, competitor landscape and legal/regulatory framework.
  • Intermediate risk assessment and management skills with the ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards.
  • Experience in contract drafting and interpretation which incorporates the design, development and implementation of consistent, robust wording.
  • Advanced insight and experience in policy management, including a robust understanding of policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy insurance, premium bookings, cancellation and credit control.
  • Evidence of relationship building with brokers at peer group level.
  • Clear and effective expression of ideas and messages via presentations/speech and in writing.
  • Ability to persuade and motivate others to act without direct authority.
  • Ability to work in an international environment and outstanding inter-cultural skills.
  • Outstanding analytical skills with ability to analyse complex data/information from multiple sources.
  • Commitment to undertaking or completing relevant professional qualifications e.g. CII.
  • Fluent English language skills.
  • Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is highly beneficial.
