This is an exciting opportunity to join our expert‑led Allianz Commercial team as a Construction Underwriter, playing a key role in delivering profitable growth across both new and existing business. You will support the development of a world‑class, multi‑niche Insurance & Engineering offering, contributing to ambitious regional growth targets.
Location: This role is based in our London office, please note that this is a hybrid working role with the expectation that you attend the office 2‑3 days per week.
Salary Information: Pay is circa £50,000 per year, based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
About You
- Underwrite construction risks across both new and existing business to meet growth and profitability targets.
- Manage renewal portfolios, ensuring strong retention and customer outcomes.
- Assess and price risk in line with Allianz appetite and underwriting strategy.
- Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships through regular engagement.
- Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers to secure sustainable business.
- Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities within the market.
- Contribute to regional underwriting strategy and key business initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Claims, Operations, and Risk teams.
- Represent Allianz positively in the market, attending broker and client meetings.

- Proven experience in construction underwriting, including casualty/liability covers.
- Strong ability to underwrite both new and renewal business effectively.
- Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with brokers and negotiating outcomes.
