Overview

Reporting to: Ultimate Tech Leader

Contract: Seasonal work in summer school holidays.

Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:30 am – 5:30 pm (on Mondays start at 8:00 am; overtime will be paid.)

The role of the Tech Instructor is to deliver outstanding, structured technology and coding activities to small groups of 8‑ to 14‑year‑olds on our Ultimate Tech Camps. Using supporting resources and a structured timetable, you will deliver coding and technology activities over four days, emphasizing participation, engagement, and creativity. You will also act as a pastoral group leader, serving as the key contact for the children on the course. An Ultimate Tech Leader and Camp Manager will be on‑site to provide support with care and parent issues.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver activities for children aged 8‑14, focusing on participation, skills and enjoyment.
  • Ensure all camp policies and procedures, including health, safety and safeguarding, are adhered to by yourself and the children in your care.
  • Take a pastoral role as a group leader, welcoming new children into your group and liaising with the Camp Manager and/or parents as necessary.
  • Supervise and engage with the children outside of timetabled activities.
  • Live up to the Ultimate Activity Camp promise of 'Inspiring Children Every Day' and behave in a manner that reflects the expectations of the company throughout your employment.
  • Show the required energy, enthusiasm and professionalism for the duration of the season, acting as an ambassador for Ultimate Activity Camps and behaving as a suitable role model for children.
  • Perform other ad‑hoc duties such as equipment maintenance or ordering.
  • Deliver well‑structured computer‑based activities in a classroom environment with course materials provided.
  • Assist the children with any questions or queries they may have throughout the course.

Qualifications

  • Enthusiastic and energetic, with experience working with children and a passion for helping young people develop their IT skills.
  • Some experience teaching or delivering coding or IT activities, able to tailor delivery and structure according to age and ability, adapting on the day.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Problem‑solving skills and patience.
  • Looking for a sometimes challenging but hugely rewarding and fun job in the holidays, and interested in furthering your career in ICT teaching or the childcare industry.

Desirable Requirements

  • Interest in IT, Computer Science or Coding.
  • Experience coding with Python and using a Microbit (not essential; training will be provided).
  • Holder of a Paediatric First Aid (6 hour or 12 hour) qualification, or willingness to gain one through the Ultimate Activity Company.
