The role of a Survival Instructor is to use provided resources to deliver quality, structured outdoor activities and workshops to groups of children aged 7 to 14. You will be expected to guide groups of children through week‑long, timetabled courses with an emphasis on fun, excitement, teamwork, and skill development. You will have a pastoral role within your group, ensuring the safety & wellbeing of children in your group.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children, ideally within an education setting.
- Enthusiastic, energetic individual, passionate about working with children and supporting their development through adventurous activities.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills and verbal reasoning.
- Confident in leading a group of children and not shy away from responsibility.
- Flexible, team player, able to adapt to dynamic situations and challenges.
- Looking for a challenging, but hugely rewarding, enjoyable job in the holidays.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience within outdoor education (bushcraft specific).
- Qualified or studying towards NGB qualification in adventurous activities, such as archery, bushcraft and mountaineering.
- Experience working in a similar camp setting, working with children aged between 7 and 14 years.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification (12 Hour Course).
About the Programme
Adventurers go wild during the summer holidays with our Ultimate Survival programme. Children enjoy fun and adventurous outdoor summer day camps, being fully‑immersed in the natural environment, trying brilliant outdoor activities and games, and making new friends!
Contract & Remuneration
- Contract: Seasonal work available during summer holidays.
- Hours: 8am - 6pm weekdays.
- Additional Hours: 3 additional hours may be required on Thursday nights (6‑9pm) for Campfire Cookout (site dependent). If required, you will be paid overtime.
- Paid pre‑camp training programme to prepare you to be an Ultimate staff member.
- Subsidised CPD opportunities, ranging from First Aid Qualification through to Food Safety Certificates.
