Role summary

The Business Consultant bridges the gap between business needs and technology, collaborating with clients to analyse business requirements, identify technology opportunities, and define, develop and onboard solutions that drive efficiency and growth.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / ROLE PURPOSE

Ultima’s Business Consulting (BC) team diligently aligns with our customers’ overarching business objectives, navigating their unique challenges and aspirations. Through a deep understanding of these dynamics, we craft tailored IT strategies, fortify technology roadmaps, and sculpt optimized operational structures and processes. The essence of our Business Consultant role is to bridge the gap between business visions and the multifaceted technology landscape. Our consultants, equipped with extensive technical breadth, provide strategic oversight to complex technology initiatives, ensuring alignment with high-level deliverables even when technical experts and architects may be enmeshed in complexities.

Our BC team stands as a beacon of guidance, gaining the trust and collaboration of both organizational sponsors and technical teams through robust reasoning, expansive technical acumen, and an unwavering commitment to continued learning. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

High-level IT strategy definition based on business strategy inputs (technology & operations)

Technology strategy definition across DC, cloud, EUC and networking

Operational strategy definition based on customer’s tech footprint (think team structures, reporting, responsibilities, …)

Technology dependency guidance across large programs, ensuring multiple projects link-in project wise as well as technically (working alongside a program manager)

Scope definition based on business requirements (new DCs, cloud migrations, XaaS migrations, M&A, divestments, …)

High-level effort scoping and timelines definition as well as role requirements for the points above

Presentation in front of larger audiences

Research and development of new customer facing propositions

Performing fractional technical CxO roles for customers

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • High-level knowledge of enterprise datacentre design principles & technologies
  • High-level knowledge of cloud design principles & technologies
  • High-level knowledge of enterprise network design principles & technologies
  • High-level knowledge of EUC design principles & technologies
  • High-level knowledge of enterprise operations and various operating models
  • Ability to high-level scope based on customer requirements (above)
  • Ability to highlight and map cross-project/program dependencies

  • Experience within a customer service environment
