Applications are invited for inclusion on a register of part-time Online Tutors in the School of Biomedical Science. The register will be available until 31 December 2030.
Location: All duties will be delivered remotely; therefore, there is no requirement to attend the University campus. However, the duties of this role must be performed from within the UK.
Salary: £32.46 per hour

ABOUT THE ROLE:
The tutor will support the Biomedical Informatics module within the online MSc Biomedical Science programme. As this programme is delivered entirely online, tutors are expected to be flexible to work the hours to meet the needs of the programme and the learners. All tutoring will be conducted through the University’s virtual learning environment and associated online tools. The role of an online tutor is to supplement and support the Programme Director and Module Coordinator. This involves contributing to curriculum delivery in a relevant specialist field and comprises tutoring, online assessment, marking, providing feedback and moderation, and may also include supervising student projects. Online tutors will be offered a full induction as part of their first contract, and performance will be collaboratively reviewed, as part of the University’s commitment to continuous improvement and supportive development. Initially, successful applicants will be added to the University’s register of online tutors. Appointment to the register does not guarantee the offer of work.
ABOUT YOU:
- BSc (Hons) degree or equivalent in Computer Science.
- Higher Degree in Bioinformatics, Statistics or Biomedical Science/Life Sciences with a significant component of statistical analysis.
- Competence in using digital tools to support teaching and administration, including standard IT packages (Microsoft suite or similar) and virtual learning environments; Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Ultra, Canvas, Moodle, Panopto, etc.
- Experience of teaching, tutoring, training, or supporting learners in higher education, professional, or research setting.
