As a result of continued expansion Ulster Independent Clinic are seeking to recruit a Medical Director who will provide governance oversight and strategic advice and leadership on all medical and dental matters.

The role is part time and the post holder will be a Senior Director with current GMC registration and a suitable specialist qualification.
Medical Director Responsible to: The Chief Executive Accountable to: The Chairperson of the Board of Directors Working Hours: 1-2 days per week JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE The Ulster Independent Clinics (UIC) has a single aim, to provide high-quality private healthcare in an excellent environment.
That aim is built on commitment, openness, and innovation.
The Medical Director will provide strategic advice and leadership on all medical and dental professional matters to the Chief Executive and Board of Directors.
In conjunction with the Chief Executive, the post holder will be responsible for improving and sustaining medical and clinical practices and standards across all services ensuring the safety and needs of patients are at the core of the way in which the UIC both plans and delivers its services.
The Medical Director will Chair the Clinical Governance Committee.
Working closely with the Chief Executive, the post holder will champion and embed a culture of quality, provision of outstanding patient centred care and effective clinical governance.
The post holder will provide clear leadership in the development of medical governance, clinical governance and risk management plans ensuring these reflect the organisations annual business plan.
The post holder will provide assurance to the Board of Directors regarding fulfilment of the responsibilities of the Board regarding medical and clinical governance and risk management.
The Medical Director will be the senior responsible officer within the organisation for overseeing the practicing privileges of Independent Clinicians, ensuring, with the support of the Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee, that all necessary arrangements are in place to guarantee these clinicians are in full compliance with all regulatory requirements to enable them to practice within the organisation.
The post holder will manage the professional conduct and capability issues as well as statutory requirements, relating to the Independent Clinicians with practicing privileges in partnership with the Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee and the Chief Executive.
UIC acts as the Designated Body for Doctors with whom it has a prescribed connection.
The Medical Director will assume the role of Responsible Officer (RO) and is responsible for ensuring that UIC fulfils its responsibility as a Designated Body as required by DHSSPS.
As RO the post holder will be the General Medical Council (GMC) liaison link and is professionally accountable to the GMC for ethics and decision making.
The Medical Director will be the senior responsible officer within the organisation for overseeing the management of regulatory functions, as required by bodies such as the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority, General Medical Council, Department of Health Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Authority and the Health and Safety Executive (NI).
This will include the areas of incident management, complaints handling and regulatory compliance.
The Medical Director will build and maintain effective working relationships with regulatory bodies, external accreditation programmes and professional associations e.g.
the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority, General Medical Council and Department of Health.
Helping to form successful partnerships with a range of local and national bodies in relation to medical and clinical governance, ensuring any best practice gained is adopted into the UIC accordingly.
As a member of the Senior Management Team the post holder will share responsibility for the achievement of the UICs corporate objectives, leading decisively and inspiring staff to deliver the UICs purpose, culture, objectives.
