As our NPD Technologist, you'll be responsible for developing and delivering customer-focused application solutions by investigating, evaluating, and optimising the use of Ulrick + Short's ingredient solutions in food and beverage formulations. The role contributes to commercial growth by leading customer development projects, supporting sales with technical expertise, and developing new application concepts for the U+S portfolio.
What you'll be doing:
- Customer Development Projects: Lead and manage assigned customer development projects from brief to delivery, with practical, high-quality solutions.
- Product + Application Development: Develop and optimise application concepts and recipes using new and existing U+S ingredients, as well as support the development of new ingredients solutions and blends.
- Customer + Commercial Support: Provide technical support to the Sales team and participate in customer meetings. Present application concepts and technical findings where required.
- Technical Knowledge Development: Build in-depth knowledge of U+S ingredients and their functionality in applications and keep technical documentation up to date.
- Sample + Application Coordination: Manage and coordinate incoming application sample requests and ensure samples are delivered on time and meet quality expectations.
- Continuous Development + Industry Awareness: Maintain ongoing professional development in food applications and ingredient functionality and stay up to date with industry trends, ingredients, and application developments.
What we need from you:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field
- 1–3 years experience in food product development or applications
- Strong understanding of food ingredients and application development
- Familiarity with food safety and quality standards
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Proactive, hands-on, and eager to learn
- Team player with a customer-focused mindset
- Passion for food and innovation
- Full, clean driver’s license and access to own transport due to offices being in a rural location
