The Strategic Business Development Manager (EMEA) is a strategy‑led, analytically driven role that partners closely with senior business leaders, Corporate Strategy, and regional functions to identify, shape, and enable significant growth opportunities across the EMEA region. The EMEA region comprises 3,000+ employees with dedicated strategy and commercial teams aligned to each Customer Operating Unit (COU). This role operates between global corporate strategy and the individual COU strategies, focusing on identifying and shaping new growth opportunities rather than owning direct P&L or sales execution. All revenue generated is ultimately captured within existing COUs. Success in this role is defined by the ability to identify and evaluate new “big bets” for UL Solutions in EMEA – both organic and inorganic – and to translate market insight into tangible growth initiatives in partnership with global functions and regional leaders. The impact of the role is measured through sustained revenue growth that significantly outperforms market and competitor trends.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining and developing strategic country profiles (currently we have for 8 countries)
- Conduct EMEA wide competitor and market analysis to support global and regional strategy
- Identify and assess market trends and opportunities not currently being pursued
- Perform macro level data and market analysis across EMEA to inform COU and global decision making
- Strategic analysis of new technologies and the potential value add for UL Solutions
- Conduct new geographic market assessments across 140+ EMEA countries and territories
- Partner with industry strategy experts across EMEA to shape future growth priorities
- Identify and evaluate organic and inorganic growth opportunities
- Provide in region support to corporate strategy and corporate M&A teams
- Partner with global and strategic accounts to translate customer needs into scalable business opportunities
- Develop and coordinate executive level presentations, briefings, and recommendations
- Support industry leadership in the development of global account strategies and plans
Location: Neu-Isenburg (Germany), Carugate (Italy), Basingstoke (UK), or Ballerup (Denmark)
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in strategy functions, M&A or strategic business development
- University Degree (Equivalent to Master’s degree) in Business, Strategy, Economics, or a related discipline
- Strong analytical capability with hands on experience in market, competitive, and strategic analysis
- Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or complex service‑led environments
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed, global organisation
- Comfortable working with large data sets and leveraging AI / Copilot tools for insight generation
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal), with German language skills considered an advantage
