Join Ground Control and help create and maintain exceptional outdoor spaces. Ground Control is looking for an experienced Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the safe and efficient delivery of grounds maintenance and tree works across a portfolio of client sites. Reporting to the Contract Manager, you'll spend the majority of your time on site, leading field teams, monitoring quality, coordinating resources and ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. You'll be the day-to-day point of contact for operational teams, supporting colleagues, maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring contracts are delivered successfully. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supervising grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture or arboriculture operations who enjoys leading from the front and delivering outstanding service.
What you'll do:
- Supervise the delivery of grounds maintenance and tree works across multiple client sites.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures, RAMS and environmental standards.
- Carry out regular site inspections to monitor quality, compliance and operational performance.
- Plan daily workloads, staff rotas and resource allocation to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Coordinate field teams, vehicles, machinery and equipment to maximise productivity.
- Provide clear work instructions and ensure all tasks are completed to the required standard.
- Deliver on-site coaching, mentoring and basic training to support team development.
- Monitor team performance and work with the Contract Manager to address performance issues where required.
- Identify and supervise additional works while supporting contract growth opportunities.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, attending meetings where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work, inspections and site visits using company systems.
- Operate grounds maintenance machinery and equipment where required, ensuring all tools, vehicles and work areas remain clean and well maintained.
What we're looking for:
- Someone who enjoys being out on site, takes pride in delivering high-quality work, leads by example and can confidently manage teams across multiple locations while maintaining excellent customer service.
Essential:
- Previous supervisory experience within grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, arboriculture or a similar operational environment.
- Strong understanding of grounds maintenance operations and safe working practices.
- Good knowledge of health and safety legislation, including RAMS and site compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Competent using digital systems to record work and manage operational activities.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable:
- Relevant horticultural, landscaping or supervisory qualifications.
- Experience supervising tree works or working alongside arboricultural teams.
- PA1/PA6, LANTRA or NPTC qualifications.
- Experience identifying and pricing additional works.
- Knowledge of environmental best practice and sustainability initiatives.
