Ground Control, the UK’s leading grounds maintenance and biodiversity business, is seeking an organised and proactive Grounds Maintenance Supervisor for the Ashford area. If you care about outdoor spaces, delivering exceptional service, and enabling your team to succeed, we want to hear from you.
Key Supervisor Responsibilities in Grounds Maintenance
- Co-ordinate and supervise grounds maintenance teams delivering services across Ashford and nearby areas.
- Plan and allocate daily and weekly tasks, managing workloads for operatives and ensuring all sites are maintained to client and company standards.
- Conduct on-site checks, spot audits, and quality assurance inspections.
- Deliver hands-on grounds maintenance as required, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, strimming, weeding, and general horticultural tasks.
- Provide practical training, support, and mentoring to team members.
- Ensure all team members adhere to health and safety and environmental policies.
- Manage and maintain relevant records including work completions, timesheets, and vehicle/machinery checks.
- Assist with the induction and ongoing development of new colleagues.
- Act as the primary on-site contact for clients, fostering positive and professional relationships.
- Report site or equipment issues, incidents, or hazards to the Contract Manager as required.
Essential Skills and Experience – Grounds Maintenance Supervisor
- Prior experience supervising grounds maintenance, landscaping, or horticultural teams, ideally in a commercial setting.
- PA1 and PA6 qualification
- NPTC competence.
- Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Practical knowledge of horticultural machinery, tools, and maintenance techniques.
- Proactive, motivated, and committed to delivering high-quality results every time.
- Confidence to coach, develop, and lead a diverse team.
- Excellent attention to detail and a pride in service standards.
- Full UK driving licence (essential) and the ability to travel locally.
- Competence in basic IT and digital record keeping.
