What you’ll do:

We are looking for a Junior Project Manager to support the Contract Delivery Manager in the Arb Utility division at Ground Control. You will be responsible for managing the operation for an assigned programme of tree works around power lines and pylons in the East Midlands area. This is a field-based role with approximately 3/4 days in the field and 1/2 days based at home. You will need a driving licence as you will be driving to rural locations on a regular basis. You will ensure work is completed to the highest possible standards in terms of safety, environment, quality, customer service and profitability. Drive consistency and innovation through everything you do to ensure Ground Control are the best at what we do!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for outputs and performance within your projects, measured against safety, quality, production, budget, required timings and client satisfaction.
  • Ensure efficient communication with your assigned office based Project Coordinator and relevant action taken to ensure projects are processed in good time for smooth and efficient delivery.
  • Timely and effective reporting and communication through to your Contract Delivery Manager.
  • Ensure your assigned tree cutting teams have a suitable work bank and are being fully utilised across the wider contract.
  • Update and manage the relevant programmes of work as well as planning checklists and all similar programmes for your project and assigned teams.
  • Swift resolving any delayed spans that need client involvement to gain consent.

What we’re looking for?

This is a great role for someone with basic field-based experience. This could be within the Arb industry but we would also be interested to hear from field-based Surveyors or Installation Engineers or ex Armed forces who are looking for a change of industry. Any tree or horticulture related experience from a practical or project management perspective would be a benefit but definitely not essential.

  • Practiced and strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Proficient and competent IT.
  • Well-developed team management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and balance demands from numerous sources to ensure that all stakeholder needs are met.
  • Excellent Customer Service.

What to expect from our recruitment process at Ground Control:

  • Application review: Once you apply, our Talent team will carefully review your application against the key skills for the role.
  • Optional video: You’ll have the chance to submit a short video to showcase your skills and personality—this is completely optional.
  • Intro call: If you’re a good match, we’ll invite you to book a short (up to 30 minutes) telephone interview at a time that suits you.
  • First interview: If selected you’ll then take part in an interview, either on Teams or in person, depending on the role.
  • Next steps: For some roles, there may be a technical assessment and a second-stage interview either on Teams or in person.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary – aligned with your skills and experience.
  • Performance‑linked bonus: Bonus opportunities aligned to your level and contribution.
  • Pension scheme – helping you plan for the future.
  • Recognition schemes – celebrating and rewarding great work.
  • Private GP service – fast, convenient access to medical support.
  • Life insurance – providing added peace of mind.
  • Subsidised gym membership – supporting your health and wellbeing.
  • Holiday buy scheme – purchase up to 5 additional days of annual leave.
