Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced EV Project Manager with proven pre-construction and delivery experience in on-street EV charging infrastructure to support a high-volume rollout programme across the Surrey and West Sussex regions.
What you’ll do
This role spans the full project lifecycle, from early-stage feasibility and pre-construction through to live highway delivery and handover. You will work closely with local authorities, DNOs, ICPs, designers, and delivery partners to ensure sites are fully designed, permitted, and construction-ready before progressing into installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead pre-construction activities for on-street EV charging sites, including feasibility assessments and constructability reviews.
- Coordinate surveys, design development, and technical approvals with internal teams, local authorities, DNOs, and ICP partners.
- Manage street works permitting, traffic management planning, and programme sequencing ahead of installation.
- Identify and mitigate pre-construction risks relating to utilities, highways constraints, access, and stakeholder approvals.
- Ensure all sites are fully construction-ready with approved designs, RAMS, permits, and utility agreements.
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of a high-volume programme of on-street EV charger installations.
- Coordinate multiple ICP installers, civil and electrical subcontractors across concurrent live sites.
- Act as the primary interface with local authorities, highways teams, and utility stakeholders during construction.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, HSE standards, and public-realm working practices.
- Lead progress meetings, manage reporting, and proactively resolve on-site and logistical challenges.
- Oversee quality assurance, snagging, completion documentation, and handover.
What you’ll get
This is a busy role that is perfect for a confident Project Manager with EV experience within a contractor environment to work autonomously in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. This is your chance to work on high-profile EV infrastructure projects whilst also having a high level of autonomy and responsibility within the team.
What we’re looking for
Above all you’ll need proven experience delivering on-street EV charging infrastructure projects or closely related public-realm utility installations ideally within a contractor environment. You will have also managed multiple concurrent on-street sites and subcontractor teams.
You’ll have a strong working knowledge of street works, civils, and electrical installations in live highway environments as well as experience managing ICP partners and coordinating DNO connections.
Required Skills & Experience
- Solid understanding of CDM Regulations, HSE requirements, and working in high-traffic public areas.
- Experience working directly with local authorities and highways departments.
- Confident, clear communicator able to manage multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
- SMSTS (or equivalent) Health & Safety qualification.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across Surrey.
Desirable but not essential
- Electrical or civils qualifications or trade background.
- NRSWA accreditation (or strong practical experience with NRSWA processes).
- Experience with Traffic Management, TROs, and permit schemes.
- Familiarity with digital project management and reporting tools.
