We are looking for a Junior Project Manager to support the Contract Delivery Manager in the Arb Utility division at Ground Control.

What you’ll do

  • You will be responsible for managing the operation for an assigned programme of tree works around power lines and pylons in the Cambridge, Huntingdon and Bedford areas.
  • You will take responsibility for driving the programme delivery for both self, contract KPI targets and our tree cutting teams.
  • This is a field‑based role with approximately 3/4 days in the field and 1/2 days based at home.
  • You will need a driving licence as you will be driving to rural locations on a regular basis.
  • You will ensure work is completed to the highest possible standards in terms of safety, environment, quality, customer service and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for outputs and performance within your projects, measured against safety, quality, production, budget, required timings and client satisfaction.
  • Ensure efficient communication with your assigned office‑based Project Coordinator and relevant action taken to ensure projects are processed in good time for smooth and efficient delivery.
  • Timely and effective reporting and communication through to your Contract Delivery Manager.
  • Ensure your assigned tree cutting teams have a suitable work bank and are being fully utilised across the wider contract.
  • Update and manage the relevant programmes of work as well as planning checklists and all similar programmes for your project and assigned teams.
  • Swiftly resolve any delayed spans that need client involvement to gain consent.

What you’ll get

This is a great role for someone with basic field‑based experience. This could be within the Arb industry but we would also be interested to hear from field‑based Surveyors or Installation Engineers or ex Armed forces who are looking for a change of industry.

  • Any tree or horticulture related experience from a practical or project management perspective would be a benefit but definitely not essential.
  • Practiced and strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Proficient and competent IT.
  • Well‑developed team management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and balance demands from numerous sources to ensure that all stakeholder needs are met.
  • Excellent Customer Service.
