We now have exciting opportunities within our Payroll Team. These are great roles for experienced payrollers to take the next step, utilising and increasing their experience across complex payroll activities, with responsibility across the entire process. The payroll team provides the end-to-end payroll process for multiple clients across three different platforms amounting to in excess of 39,000 payslips monthly.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Take ownership of one or more client payrolls completing the end-to-end monthly payroll processes.
  • Resolve complex and challenging queries (including General Ledger) through a variety of channels in line with agreed SLAs.
  • Calculate complex overpayments (e.g. across multiple tax years) – both manually and using QTax Pro4 and/or HMRC calculators.
  • Calculate and check statutory payments (SMP, ShPP, SSP etc) with legislative knowledge.
  • Work closely with the Client Stakeholders providing responses to complex queries and overpayments.
  • Run downloads of inbound ODEX tax notifications.
  • Perform pension checks and respond to pension queries both from the end users, stakeholders and pension providers.
  • Approve childcare voucher payments and administer Cycle to Work.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with client and internal teams (e.g. pensions team), external customers and third-party providers alike.
  • Peer check cash advances, P45, New Starter Checklist entries, 3rd party submissions (online and to Finance).
  • Run monthly reporting requirements for client.
  • Process court orders.
  • Complete the roll-back and submission of RTI.
  • Create Settlement runs, submitting to the Client for approval.

To do this role well, you will need the following:

  • Previous experience within a payroll department handling large or multiple payrolls.
  • CIPP qualification or equivalent level of payroll experience.
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent including Maths and English.
  • Working knowledge of up-to-date statutory payroll guidelines and best practice.
  • Experience of working with Oracle Fusion or Workday.
  • Strong Excel skills including V-lookups and pivot tables.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Adept at problem solving and comfortable working to deadlines.
  • Supervisory or coaching experience.
  • Ability to explain payroll information to non-payroll colleagues and end users.
