We now have an opportunity for an Information Governance Officer to be responsible for delivering specialist information management and data protection assurance to ensure UKSBS manages information in line with statutory and government requirements.

Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Manage and respond to information rights requests, including Data Subject Rights (DSR), Freedom of Information (FOI), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) and Parliamentary Requests, ensuring compliance with statutory timescales and organisational procedures.
  • Coordinate the operation of information governance shared mailboxes and case management processes, ensuring requests, enquiries and incidents are accurately recorded, allocated and monitored to support compliance with service standards and statutory deadlines.
  • Investigate, analyse and document personal data incidents and breaches in line with agreed procedures and service levels.
  • Monitor incident trends and support the development of recommendations that contribute to continuous improvement activities.
  • Collate, maintain and report on information governance performance data and statistics, producing accurate monthly management information to support compliance monitoring, service delivery and continuous improvement activities.
  • Provide advice and guidance on data protection and information governance matters, escalating complex or high-risk issues where appropriate.
  • Maintain information governance records, databases, registers and associated documentation to support compliance and assurance activities.
  • Support the Information Governance Manager and Data Protection Officer in the delivery of operational information governance objectives.
  • Deliver information governance training and awareness activities to promote organisational understanding and good practice in information management, data protection and records management.
  • Contribute to the review and maintenance of information governance policies, procedures, guidance and supporting materials.

To do this role well you will need:

  • Proven experience in a data protection, information governance or compliance role.
  • Strong working knowledge in relation to Subject Access, Freedom of Information and data breaches.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to strict deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • A high level of written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise documentation.
  • Confident IT skills across a broad range of applications.
  • Ability to deliver information verbally to a range of audiences.
  • The ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate more complex issues.
