The predicted salary is between 23794 - 23794 £ per year.

£23,794 per annum (pro-rata if part-time). Part-time and Full-time options available between 10 to 36 hours per week. Work schedules are flexible between the hours of 05:00-19:00, Monday to Friday; hours worked can be between 2 to 8 per day. This is a fixed-term position for 1 year to provide maternity leave cover.

Overall purpose: As a valued member of our Domestic Services team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB).

Main duties/Key responsibilities: We maintain a high standard of cleanliness across all areas for our scientific/administrative staff and visitors. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Emptying bins and replacing liners
  • Waste segregation and maximising recycling
  • Vacuuming and sweeping floors
  • Mopping floors and operating cleaning machinery
  • Polishing surfaces
  • Cleaning sanitary areas, including kitchenettes and toilets
  • Topping up hand towel and soap dispensers
  • Dusting
  • Glass cleaning
  • Providing cover during staff sickness and holidays

Working relationships: You will report directly to the Domestic Services Manager and/or Domestic Services Supervisors, working collaboratively as part of a professional and supportive team.

Person requirements:

Education / qualifications / training required:

  • Essential: General standard of education.
  • Willingness to undertake on the job training.

Previous work experience required:

  • Desirable: Previous cleaning experience.

Knowledge and experience:

  • Desirable: Knowledge of cleaning techniques.

Personal skills / behaviours / qualities:

  • Essential: Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Proven skills in working efficiently and effectively with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to follow and understand verbal and written instruction and to discuss issues with the supervisor.
