Previously, liver disease was diagnosed by biopsies. These are expensive and invasive procedures requiring overnight stays in hospitals.
This new device is a non-invasive device for liver disease. It doesn’t need the same level of expertise to operate it. It’s non-invasive, so it’s better for the patient, but also doesn’t require overnight stays in hospitals. So although it’s an expensive capital item, there are huge operational cost savings once the device has been bought.
The company is growing very quickly and expanding its sales force in the UK. They already have excellent coverage in secondary care and are now looking at expanding their market into primary care arenas.
