As a Maintenance Assistant, you will carry out a variety of maintenance tasks across the estate, including carpentry, basic plumbing, tiling, repairs, furniture assembly, and general property upkeep. You will work closely with the Maintenance & Installations team to ensure all works are completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct general property maintenance, including carpentry, tiling, and repairs to doors, windows, and locking systems.
  • Move, lift, and reposition furniture, equipment, and other heavy items as required.
  • Assemble furniture, shelving, and equipment.
  • Assist with building improvement and refurbishment projects.
  • Measure spaces, furniture, and materials to support installations and layouts.
  • Identify and report maintenance issues such as leaks, faults, and damage.
  • Assist with the management of storage units and warehouse areas.
  • Carry out basic carpentry and plumbing repairs.
  • Install and repair guttering and drainage systems.
  • Source and collect materials from local suppliers.
  • Oversee contractors when required and ensure work is completed to the expected standard.
  • Support colleagues, including providing cover during absences.
  • Participate in the maintenance on-call rota and night shift pattern during client occupations.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in a similar maintenance or property maintenance role.
  • Experience in one or more trades such as carpentry, plastering, tiling, or general building maintenance.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and maintenance equipment.
  • A basic understanding of current Building Regulations.
  • Strong practical and numerical skills.
  • The ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence.
  • The ability to drive vans of various sizes.
  • A proactive approach and excellent problem-solving skills.
