A Day in the Life
Launch your career at the cutting edge of cardiac electrophysiology. Our Associate Affera Mapping Specialist Programme is a structured, immersive 12-month development pathway designed to take you from graduate or early-career professional to a confident, customer-facing Technical Consultant within Medtronic’s Cardiac Ablation Solutions (CAS) business. The programme is built for individuals who are curious, driven, and motivated by patient impact. It combines deep clinical training, hands-on catheter lab exposure, and close mentorship to develop highly skilled specialists who thrive in complex clinical environments. By the end of the programme, you won’t just understand the technology — you’ll understand the patient pathway, the clinical decision-making, and the real-world demands of electrophysiology.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- 12-month training will include:
- Shadowing TC’s into hospital Cath Labs to observe devices implant procedures
- Attending on-line and virtual training modules and meetings
- Hands-on training, as well as regular assessments with dedicated trainers/mentors
- Completing assignments independently or collaboratively with your ETP colleagues
- Occasional national and possible international travelling will be required for training purposes.
On successful completion of the programme, you will:
- Independently support ablation procedures in the catheter lab
- Troubleshoot and problem-solve during live clinical cases
- Train and educate clinical staff on Medtronic technologies
- Work collaboratively with account teams to support customer needs
- Manage your own diary and territory responsibilities.
You’ll graduate as a fully independent Technical Consultant within the CAS UK & Ireland team.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Biomedical science or a science/clinical related degree and 0 to 3 years professional experience
- Fluent in English with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Full UK driver’s license
- Self-motivated, ambitious, and driven with ability to demonstrate integrity, ethics, and respect
- Willing to travel with occasional overnight stays and may include some unsociable hours
- Core desire to help patients by providing healthcare solutions.
- Desire to self-develop and learn technical information at a high level and ability to work independently and as part of a team as well as strong organizational skills is valued.
- Experience within clinical environments preferred, as is a passion for people, innovation, and medical technology.
