We’re looking for quality assurance assessors from across UKCP colleges to work closely with the regulation and quality assurance team. The role involves reviewing UKCP’s organisational members on behalf of their respective UKCP colleges and providing feedback reports to ensure they continue to meet our quality framework as training and accrediting organisations. This is a paid role (£35 per hour) and training is provided. It also counts as part of your professional development while providing an opportunity to work with other assessors and organisations in your respective college. You will gain a broader understanding of training providers in your colleges and UKCP, as well as additional skills in quality review and report writing. By assessing training providers and organisational members, you will ensure the continued integrity of the UKCP register.

Organisational member reviews take place across several months. Independent assessors will typically have a time commitment of three to four days per assessment across this timespan. Time commitments can vary, depending on the number of organisational members due for review in your college and the complexity of the organisation being reviewed. For example, a training provider with multiple programmes will take longer to review than an accrediting organisation.

The successful candidate will be a UKCP registrant with substantial knowledge and understanding of standards of education and training for academic institutions or training providers. A sound understanding of quality assurance frameworks including standards of practice, code of ethics and particular requirements for specific modalities is also required. This means you will be able to comprehend, interpret and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances and policies, as well as the ability to analyse information from various sources and to exercise sound judgement to ensure the organisational members continue to meet requirements. You must also be capable of navigating complex and sensitive issues with tact, diplomacy and empathy.

UKCP is the leading professional body for psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. We represent training organisations and over 12,000 members. Our charitable objectives are to promote:

  • the art and science of psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic counselling for the benefit of the public
  • research into psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic counselling methods and to disseminate the results of any such research
  • high standards of education, training and practice in psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic counselling
  • the wider provision of psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic counselling for all sections of the public

Please send your CV and the completed application form to hr@ukcp.org.uk, clearly stating the role you are applying for in the subject line of your email. Closing Date: Friday, 8 May at 9am.
