Support Worker required to support a gentleman in the Washington area
He is blind, severely deaf with hearing aids, and has autism and anxiety. He communicates effectively using email and technology and is confident expressing his needs and preferences.
Hours / Wage 5 hours per week @ £13.50 per hour The hours can be flexible over the week.
Duties Supporting with accessing the community including cafés, restaurants, shopping, leisure activities, and occasional medical appointments. The role is about enabling independence and ensuring he can enjoy life safely outside the home.
Essential Requirements Full clean driving licence and access to your own vehicle — this is essential as the role involves driving to activities and appointments. Knowledge or experience of autism. Ability to speak clearly in a calm, one-to-one setting as he wears hearing aids and finds background noise and strong accents difficult. Reliability and consistency — he needs to know and trust his support team.
Desirable Experience supporting someone with sensory impairment. A good sense of humour and a calm, patient approach.
Additional Information Sight guide training will be provided by his very supportive family. Enhanced DBS will be required, employer will cover the cost.
