We are looking for a Support Worker for a friendly, happy little boy who requires support in his daily life. He has a diagnosis of profound learning disabilities and is non-verbal. He uses facial expressions to communicate, and building up a relationship and spending time will enable you to communicate with him to meet his needs. He also has cerebral palsy and requires gastrostomy feeding.

Due to his disabilities, support is needed to ensure his safety, that his health needs are met, and also to make sure he has some social support as well. Having a support worker in place will mean that family gets a break from their caring role and this little boy gets to spend time with other people.

Due to his complex needs, you will ideally have experience of supporting children or adults with physical disabilities. This role will involve using a track and hoist for which training will be given. Training will also be provided for administering medication, providing his nutrition via his gastronomy tube, and you will spend time with the family to ensure you get to know their routines.

We would like this little boy to be able to access clubs and take part in activities and have some stimulating meaningful interactions outside of the family home. This will support alongside his family for him to develop his skills as he grows up.

There is personal care involved in this role, including changing pads/nappies and ensuring cleanliness. If you are a positive, proactive, and friendly person who likes a varied role, we would love to hear from you.
