Bank/casual Personal Assistant required to support a female aged 62 years old in West Pelton. I am 62, enjoy crafting and shopping, history, and need support to get out and about. I am an animal lover and enjoy all things 80s. I have multiple chronic conditions and limited mobility. Patience and understanding of cognitive decline (not dementia) is a must. My short-term memory can be poor, especially when anxious, and processing is a significant problem for me. My GP is aware, and we are working through this with support from the aligned mental health team at the GP surgery. This affects my mental well-being, so understanding is essential.

Hours/Wage: Various hours as a bank, casual PA. Cover holidays at £13.50 per hour. I would be happy with fewer hours while my PA is away. Mainly, it is to cover my wonderful PAs who job share. Hours will cover sickness or unforeseen circumstances on various pre-arranged days. Please note this is bank/relief hours only, not a permanent job. I have a well-established PA who would be willing to show you the ropes.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with personal care when I am unable to move.
  • Shower help if required.
  • Help with hair, blow dry, and upper body dressing.
  • Make the bed/change the bed as required (weekly).
  • Put washing on the airer and fold up if necessary.
  • Carry items for me to my mobility car or garden.
  • Essential support for my mobility scooter.
  • Accompanying me shopping.
  • Tidy sofas and pick up dropped items.
  • Medication and appointment reminders.
  • Some help with opening things or chopping vegetables.

Additional Requirements/Information: I prefer someone who has worked in a care setting, is empathetic, and understands depressive disorders. A good sense of humour is important. I do not like people rushing around due to balance and cognitive issues. I want to remain independent, so support is required without taking responsibility for my life. I have recently had a life-changing experience, so I can get tearful at times. Patience is a must as I have poor concentration at times. A car driver is required unless you live in the West Pelton area. Visits to local shops with me are necessary as I cannot take my scooter in and out of the boot. Setting up a mobility scooter is part of the job on some days. Light duties may be required. References are essential from your current or last employer.

Very important: I have a small dog, so a dog-friendly person is needed. I need someone who is tolerant of my dog, as she has full run of our home and garden.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Meal Preparation
  • Personal Care
  • Domestic Care
  • Social + Leisure activities
  • Support to remain independent
  • Transportation
