To provide support for 24 hours per week broken down into daily calls. To work with young woman to enable her to access community and support her independence.
We are currently looking to recruit Support Workers to provide support for a young woman who has various mental health diagnosis. The purpose of your role will be to enable her independence, support to take part in activities she enjoys and enable her to live in the way she would like.
Her diagnosis include mental health conditions anxiety and depression, PTSD and has dissociative episodes. Due to the complexities of this young woman’s mental health it would be preferred that you have experience working within mental health or have personal experience of this. There is a mental health professional (CPN) who is involved and you will provide support and guidance. There are also physical diagnosis including sleep apnoea, back pain and asthma so as her condition and how she feels fluctuates each day will be different. It might be that something has been planned but needs to change last minute so you should be prepared for this, in these situations there will be other ways to support such as supporting to maintain the home environment.
She is a friendly person and has various hobbies and interests. You should be confident and outgoing, happy to have a chat and enjoy variation in your work. It is essential that you have experience of supporting people with mental health diagnosis and have experience of working with adults in their own home. There may be times when you need to contact various professionals for support in crisis situation and this will be discussed during interview.
You will support with medication for which training will be given, ensure safety at home and be aware of limitations on a bad day. She is able to do more on good days and this can fluctuate from day to day. You will support with going to the shops, meeting friends, taking part in various activities such as going to the gym and out for food.
Each day will be different depending on what she wants to do on that day so you should be prepared to be flexible. We would also like the support workers to be able to suggest things to do out in the community so you should be willing to be proactive in finding various activities to take part in.
We would prefer you to be a car driver with your own transport however this isn’t essential as public transport can be used. Expenses will be met by your employer.
Hours – 24 hours per week Support required is broken down into calls – One hour morning calls Monday-Sunday Monday (12pm-1pm) and Wednesday (12pm-1pm) Friday (approx. 10:30am-3) Evening call 1.5 hour per day Total – 24 hours per week
Times can be flexible and will be discussed further at interview.

Successful applicant must:
- Ideally have experience working as a support worker with children or adults especially with mental health diagnosis
- Have a positive understanding towards people with disabilities
